An English Lady's Bathroom

The bathroom roombox is based on a project I once saw in Nutshell News. I call it An English Lady's Bathroom because the floor has been carpeted.

I once read an article in the National Post about furry bathrooms. The author wrote about her trip to England and could not get over how all the bathrooms in the homes were carpeted. She then attributed this to the somewhat damp, cold climate. What was really interesting was that I decided to carpet the bathroom floor before I read the article. To me, a tiled bathroom seems cold and therefore lacks the warmth and comfort I seek. My own bathroom is not carpeted. Rather it's all wood...floor, walls and ceiling, and it's always the essence of warmth and comfort.

The box I found at a garage sale a couple of years ago. It was in a pitiful state, yet I knew it had a miniature potential. Once I saw the bathroom roombox project in Nutshell News, I knew what to do with it.

Bathroom Roombox

The bathroom set is from Chrysnbon and finished with acrylic paints.

The linen cupboard is made from basswood, stained in oak on the outside and painted white in the interior. The "towels" are baby face cloths and the various perfume bottles are made from beads.

I made a window, with a view, then dressed the window, but forgot to do tie-backs...so you can see the view...one day I'll do it! The bath mat is a combination of cross stitches and French knots which form a rose pattern.
